Arsenal are no stronger than they were last season, despite the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, according to ex-Gunner Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal striker does not believe the club have addressed their biggest issues from last season, and still require a new central midfielder and a top quality goalscorer.
Quoted by the Daily Express, Campbell told talkSPORT, “Alexis Sanchez is a fantastic signing but I don’t think the problems have been really addressed.
“I like the Calum Chambers signing but he’s going to take a bit of time to bed in. The two main problems were the centre of the pitch and a noted goalscorer, and they haven’t addressed that problem.
“If you struggled against the top boys and you don’t address the problems, then you can’t expect a different result.
“That noted goalscorer and that power in midfield, Arsenal still lack it.”
Despite Arsene Wenger’s insistence that he believes his squad have added the necessary firepower, Campbell doesn’t believe that Sanchez is the answer to their problems.
The Chilean enjoyed his best season for Barcelona last season, netting 21 times in all competitions, and also impressed in the World Cup, scoring twice.
