Arsenal have opened talks with Catania over Argentina wonderkid Gino Peruzzi, according to Metro.
Arsene Wenger is in the market for a right-back after missing out on Atletico Madrid youngster Javier Manquillo to Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Peruzzi has been on the Gunners’ radar for some time now and initial contact about a deal was made last week.
And now it’s being reported that Catania’s president is heading to London to thrash out a season-long loan deal for the defender, who turned down a move to Sunderland last summer, with a view to making the deal permanent next summer.
However, despite the Gunners offering a £1million loan fee, it’s believed Catania would prefer an outright sale of the 22-year-old, which could prove to be a stumbling block in the negotiations.
Peruzzi is highly-rated across Europe and can play at right-back or left-back.
