Gunners chief Arsene Wenger has made securing a new forward a priority for the winter window after growing concerned by his side’s reliance on Olivier Giroud.
The French forward has been in excellent form so far this season, but the Londoners have a lack of top quality back-up options, with Nicklas Bentner and Yaya Sanogo currently supporting the former Montpellier man.
Wenger is keen to draft in Benzema to bolster his options, and is ready to take advantage of Real’s perceived willingness to sell.
The La LIga giants are keen to snap up Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, but they have to sell in order to fund a deal for the Uruguayan after a lavish summer of spending.
Arsenal are also keen on the controversial attacker, but are aware that their domestic rivals are unwilling to let him switch to the Emirates Stadium.
But, Benzema could be a more realistic option.
Wenger swooped for Real’s Mesut Ozil on deadline day, and is ready to partner him with his ex-team-mate – who has given the front-man a glowing recommendation.
Could Karim Benzema fire Arsenal to the Premier League title?
