Arsenal are prepared to break their transfer record twice in quick succession by following up the capture of Gonzalo Higuain with a move for Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, according to reports from The Metro.
The Gunners are believed to be on the verge of tying up a deal for the Argentine striker, and once the transfer is agreed they will push ahead for the Toffees’ star man.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be willing to splash the cash this summer, after being handed a £70m war chest by the club’s hierarchy to keep the London club in the running for Champions League qualification.
Higuain will cost £22m, but any move for Fellaini would be more costly, with Everton only willing to sell if his release clause of £23m is met.
Wenger is thought to be prepared to meet the figure, after being impressed by the Belgian’s form last season.
