Arsenal are preparing to go head-to-head with Juventus for the services of Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, according to Spanish website AS.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly prepared to splash out on the Chilean superstar in an attempt to beat the Serie A champions to his signature.

It is widely reported that the 25-year-old will leave Camp Nou this summer, despite enjoying one of the best seasons of his career to date in La Liga.

The winger has scored 18 and assisted 10 in 33 league appearances so far this season, but still could be on his way out of the Catalan giants.

And Wenger believes he would be the ideal player to assist Olivier Giroud in attack next season after the French striker spent most of the season leading the Gunners’ front line alone.

However, Wenger has already warned Arsenal fans that they will have to be patient for big money signings this summer, blaming the World Cup this summer as a distraction to the business he hopes to get done.

But with Juventus serious about their interest in Sanchez, Wenger may be forced to get his cheque book out sooner than he expected.
