Arsenal are considering a £6million move to Ateltico Madrid centre-half Toby Alderweireld, according to the Daily Star.
The Belgian is attracting interest from Arsene Wenger, who is in the market for a worthwhile replacement to Thomas Vermaelen who joined Barcelona earlier this month.
Alderweireld is expected to leave the La Liga champions this summer after being left out of Altelico’s meeting with City rivals Real last week.
And with a price-tag of around £6m, Wenger sees the Belgium international as bargain.
The Emirates boss also has his eyes on Kostas Manolas and Matija Nastasic, although it is believed Alderweireld is top of his list.
Wenger is desperate to strengthen his defence before the the September 1 transfer window deadline after losing Carl Jenkinson on loan to West Ham and Johan Djourou to Hamburg, as well as Vermaelen’s move to Spain.
