Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of the season, according to his agent.
The Danish international has been handed a fresh chance this season under Arsene Wenger, with the Frenchman having been short on attacking options for much of the season.
Despite only managing 12 games – many of which have been as a substitute – Bendtner has found the back of the net twice, and is once again a valued member of the club’s first-team squad.
He is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, but his agent says that discussions surrounding a new deal for his client may occur between now and the end of the campaign.
“We have not been in touch with Arsenal about it,” Bendtner told The Mirror.
“We might discuss it with Arsenal later in case it is necessary.
“Nicklas is focused on Arsenal and regaining his fitness.”
Bendtner has been heavily criticised during his time at Arsenal, with a perceived lack of ability and commitment irking fans of the club.
He has recently been out on a succession of loan moves, including spells at Juventus and Sunderland.
