Arsenal target Yoann Gourcuff is in talks with a ‘big club’ over a January transfer, after Lyon confirmed they will allow the player to leave this month, reports the Metro.
Arsene Wenger has been a long term admirer of Gourcuff, but always stressed his fellow countryman would be too expensive to sign.
But now it seems Lyon are willing to drop the price for the 27-year-old, as they hope to offload him before the close of the January transfer window.
“Gourcuff is a player we are happy to let go during the transfer window,” Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said.
“We are in discussions with a big club over him at the moment.”
It is not clear as to whether Arsenal have enquired about Gourcuff, but Wenger remains on the lookout for offensive talent with a number of star names out injured.
Arsenal were rocked by the news earlier in the week that Theo Walcott is set to miss the rest of the season with a ligament injury.
The Gunners are thought to be on the lookout for a replacement striker, and have been linked with Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata and Porto’s Colombian striker, Jackson Martinez.
