Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla, according to the Express.
Any move for Cazorla would likely coincided with the Spanish champions selling off one of their own players to free up enough money, with winger Arda Turan reportedly set for a move to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old Turkish national has a £33m release clause in his contract, a figure that is far lower than Cazorla’s £18m. Turan’s figure may need to be lowered to carry out a deal, though, but the move would still provide Atletico with enough funds to make a run at the 28-year-old Spanish international.
Atletico have already had an active transfer period, with star striker Diego Costa expected to complete a £28m move to Chelsea, while Tiago Mendes and Koke have also been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Earlier this summer, Turan’s agent claimed he had an offer from a club in England, with many believing Man United were the team he was referring too. It would not come as a surprise, then, that the Red Devils would be very interested in Turan should Atletico look to offload him.
Cazorla finished last campaign with seven goals in 47 appearances for the Gunners, with his most memorable match coming in the FA Cup Final against Hull City where he netted a goal and an assist in Arsenal’s 3-2 victory at Wembley.
