Bacary Sagna has hit back at rumours he is looking to leave Arsenal by stating that he’s happy at the Premier League club.

The French defender was rumoured to be unsettled in North London following their offer 12-month extension to his current contract.

However, the 29-year-old insisted that he wants to repay the faith shown in him by the club, who stuck by him through his two broken legs in the last 18 months:

"I'm very happy," he responded when asked about his future with Arsenal according to SkySports.

"I'm very happy to be back to football and to play for Arsenal.

"I'm looking forward to playing more games this season because I've been injured lately."

Sagna made his return to first-team football against QPR in October and has gone on to register seven appearances.

He joined the club in 2007 from now Ligue 2 side Auxerre.

His solid defensive abilities and willingness to support the attack have made him a fans’ favourite at the Emirates outfit, for whom he has made over 150 appearances.

The Gunners are thought to be keen to extend Sagna’s stay in England and could return with an improved contract offer soon.
