The German international is wary of the threat the Premier League title chasers pose, and has told his fellow players they will need to ‘play to the pain barrier’ if they are to come away from the Emirates with a positive result.
The Bundesliga champions won 3-1 at the Emirates at the same stage of the competition last season, going through on away goals after the Gunners won 2-0 at the Allianz Arena.
“It’ll be a tough game in London – we know we’ve got to go right to the pain barrier. We’re off to London feeling good and with a great run under our belts,” Muller said.
Arsene Wenger’s side head into the match on Wednesday on something of a shaky run of form.
The Gunners have managed just two wins in their last five matches in all competitions, and were fortunate to scrape a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich head into the tie on a run of nine straight wins, including a 4-0 hammering of Freiburg on Saturday.
