Edinson Cavani has dismissed transfer rumours indicating a move away from Napoli following interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners are the latest club to be interested in the Uruguayan striker who is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe at the moment.

The 25-year-old striker has earned legendary status in Naples after firing 80 goals in just 110 appearances, but has recently had to silence rumours that he is interested in a move to the Premier League and in particular, the Emirates Stadium.

“My future is the present, I’m happy at Napoli, my team mates are fantastic, the fans are very passionate and my family is settled here – it’s all fantastic," Cavani said.

“I’m happy I came here.”

Cavani has also been a long term transfer target for Chelsea, but the Blues have now focused their attention on bringing in Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

Arsenal are keen to add to their attacking ranks as striker Gervinho is off to join the Ivory Coast in January for the African Cup of Nations, despite rumours that they are lining up a bid to seal a loan spell for French and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry from New York Red Bulls.

Cavani could well be the perfect tonic for Arsenal's ailing season but Arsene Wenger may have to look elsewhere if he is to breath new life into his squad.
