Good news Arsenal fans, Arsene Wenger, albeit belatedly, looks like he's found his chequebook!

The Gunners have secured the signatures of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez as the deadline in the transfer market approaches on Wednesday and they're two deals that make sense.

Mustafi - a German international - comes in with experience at both European club level and with Germany so will surely help out with the Emirates side's back four which has started somewhat shakily.

Meanwhile, Perez has arrived from Deportivo with a record from last season of 18 goals in 37 games so the idea is that him and Olivier Giroud's goal tallies combined fire the Gunners towards the title.

How Mustafi and Perez settle in and perform over the coming weeks remains to be seen but with Wenger suddenly spending money he may fancy getting in a few more fresh faces.

So we think these five from the Bundesliga deserve a look. Over to you, Arsene...

Ricardo Rodriguez

In the modern game the full-back has become one of the most important positions on the pitch. They need to bomb up and down supporting both attack and defence, as well as ideally being able to cross a ball and chip in with goals.

It's baffling then that a club like Arsenal haven't got a world class left-back. Nacho Monreal is okay but Ricardo Rodriguez is far far better and should be signed.

Bernd Leno

Bernd Leno

Past Petr Cech Arsenal don't have the best options in goal.

Wojciech Szczesny is a decent 'keeper but with him out on loan at AS Roma again this season you have to wonder if he'll ever play for the Gunners again.

David Ospina isn't great and with Cech not getting any younger, a plan is needed. Leno is one of many talented German 'keepers and would be perfect for the years after the former Chelsea stopper.

Karim Bellarabi

Karim Bellarabi

Arsenal saw first hand what devastating pace can do in the big games after Sadio Mane tore their left-side apart for his goal on the opening day.

The Gunners have players that are no slouches, Theo Walcott will always give you pace but his end product his sometimes thrown into doubt. Time then, to bring in someone like Bellarabi, he's quick but he can deliver too and that's ultimately what counts.

Juan Bernat

Juan Bernat

In Francis Coquelin, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny Arsenal have an abundance of defensive midfielders all with detractions.

Coquelin and Elneny have good games but they can also go missing whilst Xhaka could still be the real deal but he seems intent on getting booked a lot this season, and that won't help.

The Gunners need a calm and consistent presence to at least challenge in these roles and Juan Bernat would be the one.

Sebastian Jung

Hector Bellerin is a top right back, make no mistake, but if he does go off the boil who's going to take his place?

In fact, who's challenging him right now for his spot? Competition for places is what makes the best sides push on and the Gunners need this on the right side of defence.

Sign Sebastian Jung from Wolfsburg and they should just get that at last.
