If there's one area of the transfer market Arsenal have often struggled with over the last ten years, it's selling players for the right price at the right time.

For example, the combined sales of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie, once the three stand-out stars of the Arsenal starting XI, saw the Gunners take in less than Spurs did for £86million man Gareth Bale.

So perhaps its time the north Londoners begin to think a little more preemptively in terms of moving players on; in other words, not waiting until they're forced to by contract disputes or horrendously poor form.

And it's with that in mind we at Football FanCast have listed FIVE first team stars the Emirates outfit should consider cashing in on. They may be controversial departures, but they'll certainly add a few pennies to the summer transfer kitty.

Should the Gunners part with some of these FIVE this summer?

Mathieu Debuchy

Arsenal signed Mathieu Debuchy only last summer, but in the twelve months since their need for an experienced right-back of the 29 year-old's variety has significantly reduced.

Although lacking the same level of exposure to European and international football, Hector Bellerin emerged as a real asset on the right of the Gunners' defence during Debuchy's prolonged injury absence, and Calum Chambers impressed throughout the 2014/15 campaign in a cameo role.

With Carl Jenkinson also set to pen extended terms before spending another year out on loan, Arsenal suddenly find themselves exceptionally well-endowed in the No.2 department.

The France international has been linked to a number of major clubs before, including Bayern Munich, so there's a good chance the north Londoners can recoup the vast majority of their original £12m investment should they sell this summer.

DAVID OSPINA

David Ospina produced a number of emphatic displays towards the end of last season after usurping Wojciech Szczesny for the Gunners' No.1 berth, finishing up with 46 saves and eight clean sheets in 18 Premier League appearances.

But the £10m arrival of Petr Cech - one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history - has left the Colombian international a rather redundant figure at the Emirates.

Many Gunners fans he's still the preferred choice of understudy to the former Chelsea star, but Arsene Wenger's faith in Wojciech Szczesny certainly hasn't evaporated completely and he seems far more likely to part with a goalkeeper he signed just twelve months ago than another who has been within the Emirates set up since 2006.

Furthermore, there's already some demand for Ospina. According to The Express, Everton are preparing a bid for the 26 year-old.

Theo Walcott

With Theo Walcott's rather arduous contract negotiations still ongoing, one has to ponder whether the England international is worth all the hassle.

No doubt, the lightening winger-forward adds something a little different and more direct to Arsenal's attack, whilst his return of 58 goals in 166 appearances over the last five campaigns is not to be sniffed at.

But he's already picking up one of the biggest salaries at the Emirates despite spending the vast majority of the last two seasons sidelined through injury, and overall probably isn't a player you'd describe as a member of the world football's winger elite.

As a home-grown product blessed with an eye for goal, there's a huge market for the 26 year-old and he's already been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer.

Despite just a year remaining on his current deal, the Gunners could still easily command a fee of around £20m.

JACK WILSHERE

Jack Wilshere's certainly had his moments in an Arsenal jersey but the England international is still yet to manifest into the world-class centre-mid he's often heralded to become.

Having missed significant portions of every season through injury since his breakthrough 2010/11 campaign, every lengthy sideline bout amplifies the concern that the 23 year-old will never quite live up to his obvious potential.

It's a risk Arsenal could easily pass onto someone else whilst taking considerable compensation for a playmaking midfielder at the forefront of Roy Hodgson's England plans.

Manchester City, in particular, are desperate for young, home-grown players this summer and seem willing to pay virtually any fee - including Liverpool's £50m valuation of Raheem Sterling - to sign them.

Based on that logic, the Gunners could easily squeeze £30million-£40million out of a club with more money than sense. And in my opinion the North Londoners could sign a superior replacement - such as Juventus star Arturo Vidal - for less.

SANTI CAZORLA

Certainly a controversial suggestion to finish things with, but big talents always command big transfer fees.

Indeed, Santi Cazorla was the story of the season at the Emirates, barring £35m signing Alexis Sanchez, emerging as a player reborn in his central midfield role and becoming a vital influence on the Gunners' steamrolling form towards the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

At the same time, however, that's what makes this summer the opportune window to sell the Spain international. Cazorla's just come to the end of arguably the best season of his career so at the age of 30, his stock in the transfer market will probably never exceed what it is right now.

With two years still remaining on his contract and a variety of clubs reportedly interested, including Atletico Madrid, the north London outfit could command around £20m. Not bad for a player who will turn 31 before the opening of the January window.
