Arsenal have the luxury of boasting a squad with great depth this season. Even accounting for their customary injury crisis, the Gunners have enough quality throughout their first-team ranks to battle through, or one would imagine they can.

Weaknesses are still present, yes, but they are not suffering from the same obvious troubles that have made them so vulnerable to panicking in the past. In fact, they are perhaps suffering from too large a squad. Rotation is obviously going to be key as stars fatigue in the latter stages of the season, but there are several players at the club who are unlikely to even see much action then.

The solution, surely, is to loan these players out and find them a home elsewhere, even for the short-term, to make sure they can keep both fully fit and improving. Luckily for Arsene Wenger, the January window is just around the corner – the perfect opportunity.

Here are FIVE that fall into said category...

Carl Jenkinson

Arsene Wenger has made it brutally clear that he has little faith in Carl Jenkinson. Giving him one chance, before being excluded from the matchday squad in favour of Mathieu Debuchy, Wenger clearly does not believe Jenkinson is a long-term solution at right-back (when Hector Bellerin is injured).

That leaves Jenkinson with a dilemma. He could, of course, stay and fight for his place, but it would surely make far more sense to ply his trade elsewhere.

Having enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell with Ipswich Town last season, it's quite a surprise that Arsenal are yet to loan out Maitland-Niles this season.

A versatile player capable of playing on either flank, Maitland-Niles is unlikely to break into the Arsenal first-team squad for quite some time to come. Trying to force his way into the most competitive area of the team, it would surely be best if he could find some minutes elsewhere.

Chuba Akpom

Once Arsenal’s great young hope, Chuba Akpom is almost certain not to have a future at the Emirates Stadium. As his career ventures towards the lower leagues, he must at least find some pitch time to prove what he is capable of.

With opportunities at Arsenal extremely unlikely, Akpom should be one of the first players sent out on loan in January. Several loans before have produced little, so Akpom must prove he has what it takes to succeed.

Gedion Zelalem

Like Akpom, Zelalem has had his period as the supposed next star to appear from the Arsenal academy. Via a loan in Scotland with Rangers, Zelalem has had to make do with a spell in the background at Arsenal, as the midfield first-team options continue to clutter his path.

An exciting player when in full flow, Zelalem could light up a Championship team. He would be quite a punt for any side who brought him in, but he is a risk worth taking.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Arsenal’s ability to produce young, gifted forwards is uncanny. Few other clubs seem to have quite the same production line of attacking talent as the Gunners and Reine-Adelaide is just one of many in the current cohort.

Turning 19 at the start of next year, it's time for Reine-Adelaide to prove what he is capable of. And, aside from the occasional first-team appearance, he is not going to have the opportunity to do that at Arsenal.
