Arsene Wenger is known for many things, but spending money wildly isn't one of them.

Last season's transfer coup amounted to Petr Cech in the summer and Mohamed Elneny in January. The fans went crazy last summer and complained bitterly that their opponents splashed the cash, whilst Wenger refused to spend over the odds and for players that he considered he didn't need.

This summer, the Arsenal boss has already spent over £30m on Granit Xhaka from Borussia Moenchengladbach and a promising Japanese striker.

But who should Wenger be looking at to improve matters at The Emirates?

Arsenal appear to be the bridesmaid these days and despite qualifying for the Champions League, they only ever seem to get so far before succumbing to bigger and better sides in the competition.

So who should Wenger consider from the Premier League that might help them to be title winners again?

N'Golo Kante

N'Golo Kante

One of Leicester's star players last season, Kante could be on the move this summer. Where to, no one is clear about, but the Frenchman is admired by Wenger.

The 25-year-old could add some steel to the Arsenal midfield and with his energy from box to box, could give the team that extra energy that was lacking last season.

Signed for just over £5m last year from Caen, Leicester could expect at least four times as much in return.

John Stones

John Stones

It is extremely unlikely, but Stones should be on Wenger's radar. The ball playing defender would Arsenal's style.

Collecting the ball from the back and moving forward, linking up with the midfield, Stones could become a colossus under the Frenchman's guidance.

The 22-year-old Everton man is a definite prospect for the future and far and away more superior to his current crop of centre-backs.

Riyad Mahrez

The Leicester City star should definitely on Wenger's radar this summer.

After winning both the league title and the PFA Player of the Year award, the Foxes would receive a phenomenal return on the £400,000 they paid Le Havre for Mahrez in January 2014.

With his best years ahead of him, this would be an almighty signing for Arsenal and really excite their fans.

With 17 goals and 11 assists last term, the Algerian would be an immense asset to The Gunners.

Romelu Lukaku

Romleu Lukaku

Sometimes you have just got to spend big and the Belgian striker will certainly cost Arsenal a fortune.

If they pay the reported asking price of £65m, that will smash their existing transfer record for Ozil.

The big striker, guarantees goals and will be the one major signings this year above all others. Proven in the Premier League, Arsenal need the type of player who already knows the division and is hungry for success.

With top four finishes and Champions League football, Lukaku and Arsenal are made for each other.

Gary Cahill

Cahill

At 30, the experienced Chelsea man is just what the Arsenal defence needs.

His role at the heart of the Chelsea defence is under review as Conte re-builds the Stamford Bridge club.

Kurt Zouma will eventually give Cahill a run for his money and he may well find that his game time is somewhat reduced in the not too distant future.

For consistent first team football, Cahill may need to move on and the Emirates will give him European football as an added bonus.
