OLIVIER GIROUD IS INJURED
As Arsenal fans already know and will undoubtedly be fretting about, Olivier Giroud looks set to be out of action for some time after fracturing his ankle against Everton last weekend.
Initially it was assumed he would be out for the next two months recovering, but a scan has revealed that the Frenchman is now expected to be sidelined until 2015, which would obviously severely dent the Gunners’ title hopes this season.
Unless Arsene Wenger wraps up a deal for a new centre-forward by September 1st, the north London outfit’s goalscoring hopes will be in the hands of 21 year-old Yaya Sanogo, who is yet to find the net in 15 outings for Arsenal, and new signing Alexis Sanchez, who struggled to have any impact up top against the Toffees, as detailed below:
If Arsenal don’t find a high-quality replacement like Edinson Cavani, their title chances remain slim to none – in fact, their seemingly eternal position of fourth spot could well come under threat.
