Arsenal have a place in the top four wrapped up and will cap the season with the FA Cup if they manage to beat Hull in the final next weekend. But this has been far from a painless season, and it may not even be considered a season of progress.
Arsenal have suffered enormously at various points of this campaign, starting with the hostile atmosphere following the loss to Aston Villa in the opening game of the season. Heavy defeats to title rivals and the scare of failing to qualify for Europe have led to questions being asked of the manager. This has been a difficult season, but it’s hard to say the problems weren’t of Arsenal’s own doing.
If the club are to build on the positives of this campaign – and there are some, including the signing of Mesut Ozil – then Wenger will need to make changes in order to avoid a repeat of the negatives that occurred over the past 10 months.
