The Gunners are interested in bringing the 22-year-old to the Premier League, despite Jorgino joining Napoli just a few months ago. The Brazilian left Verona for Naples in January, but could already be on his way out of Rafa Benitez’s club.
Liverpool and Chelsea have both been linked with Jorginho in the past, but Arsenal are keen to beat their Premier League title rivals to his signature, with reports emerging the club met with Jorginho’s agent in London last month. The 22-year-old has scored just 1 goal for Napoli in all competitions since his winter switch from Verona.
Jorginho helped Verona gain promotion back to Serie A last season, and coupled with half a season in Italy’s top division, Napoli decided to sign the midfielder on a contract lasting until 2018. His agent, Joao Santos, claimed Jorginho had turned down other clubs due to his interest in the Napoli’s project.
But that same agent has met Arsenal officials in London, suggesting Jorginho’s action in Napoli’s project may be limited. Instead, the Brazilian could join the Gunners, who faced Napoli in the group stages of the Champions League this year. Both fixtures were before Jorginho’s transfer to the club.
