Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed he considers Aaron Ramsey to be worth more money than club record signing Mesut Ozil, after claiming he wouldn’t sell the Welsh midfielder for £50million, reports the Express.
Ramsey has been the stand-out Premier League player of the season so far, and scored another two goals over the weekend in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Cardiff City.
Wenger signed the midfielder from Cardiff for just £5million back in 2008, and has now revealed he considers the player to be worth 10 times as much.
He admitted that the the transfer market had changed a lot in the last five years, but also revealed that financial security at Arsenal will now prevent him from having to sell his top players.
Asked if he would sell Ramsey for £50m, Wenger said: “No. We don’t want to sell anybody.
“We want just to keep our team together.
“I suffered enough for years for having to sell the players, no? And now we are in a stronger position financially so we are not out there to sell our best players.”
Wenger also revealed that despite Ramsey’s outstanding form this season, he expects there to be further improvement.
“I was a midfielder and I would have loved to have what he has,” he added.
“He can defend, he can attack, he can score goals. What do you want more?
“And he’s young! Another quality that I have lost as well.
“That shows you that he can develop still more. When you look at his improvement in the last two years, why should he stop now?
“I think there’s a lot more to come and if he continues to play like that he’ll have a good future with Wales.”
