After a dismal run of results for Arsenal, many fans will be fearing the worst.

The Gunners have endured a difficult period which has seen them knocked out of the Champion's League at the hands of Bayern Munich, and effectively out of the title race after a 6-0 thrashing at Chelsea, followed by a tame 2-2 draw with Swansea. They now find themselves languishing in 4th after leading the league for over two months, and some will feel that that signs of the end are near.

Speaking to FootballFanCast.com at the launch of the Carlsberg Fan Squad, a football task force headed by Wright, Jeff Stelling and Paddy McGuinness, set up to make football even better for fans, Wright said that the FA cup could provide the catalyst for Arsenal to develop a winning spirit, and provide a springboard for success.

When asked if the FA cup would be enough for Arsenal this season, Wright said:

"When you haven't won anything coming on 9 years it's not a case of would it be enough, it's something the fans deserve, something to cheer, and a stepping stone for the players to start getting that winning feeling.

"There's nothing like winning a tournament and having the medal, and having that (feeling) that you have won something."

Wright also believes that the club's recently improved financial standing will put the club in pole position to make waves in upcoming transfer markets and strengthen the squad further.

"Arsenal's got the money and it’s only a matter of time," he added.

"They've gone through a massive period of upheaval with the stadium, they've done the stadium now and they have got to try and sign the players.

"We've seen with Ozil that they can do it. People are talking about how Arsenal can go and spend that kind of money in every transfer window for as long as they want, they've got the capability now - they just need to start doing something."

Still the results against other top clubs as well as the lack of squad depth at Arsenal has many skeptical about the club's ability to compete. Wright concedes that Arsenal have fallen short in some matches but maintains that the season has still been a success to many degrees.

"I think the manner in which they were beaten says to me they are not ready to win the premier league (this season)." Wright admitted.

The Arsenal hero remains confident and believes calm heads will prevail.

"The negatives are getting restless with the manager and everything that's going on, we just need to be calm here, we need to be calm."

The Arsenal faithful will remember Wright for his heroics, character and leadership on the field, and will now hope to follow his train of thought in regards to Arsenal's fortunes.
