It has been reported that Italian side Napoli are targeting Arsenal defender Johan Djourou.

It is expected that Djourou will meet Arsene Wenger for discussions in the coming weeks, with Napoli showing interest in the centre-half.

Djourou has played a much smaller part for the first team this season, appearing just once so far, which was in the Capital One Cup game last month where Arsenal beat Coventry.

Djourou is currently tied to a long-term contract, which lasts until the summer of 2015. He is paid £50,000-a-week, as a clause was triggered by him taking part in a specific number of games.

However, Napoli, as well as fellow Italian team Juventus showed interest over summer. It is also rumoured that Napoli was recommended to him by his Switzerland team mate Valin Dehrami, who used to that It seems likely that if Wenger cannot assure Djourou that he will be picked for the first team more regularly, the centre-half may be tempted to go elsewhere. Djourou was a member of Arsenal's academy, and first played for Arsenal at a senior level in 2004.

Djourou has been an important player for Arsenal over the years, being particularly prominent during the 2010/11 season where he was the first-choice Arsenal centre-back at one point, and from the start of that season to March 2011, they had not lost a match in the Premier League when he was playing.

It was reported a few days ago that Djourou had demanded to speak with Wenger about his future at the club.
