Julian Draxler is said to have ruled himself out of a move away from Schalke this summer. The youngster has had an indifferent second half to the campaign and it appeared that a move away would have been a positive step in his development.
But the German international, who captained the national team against Poland on Tuesday, looks set to stay on at Veltins Arena next season.
It means Arsenal have now faced an early blow ahead of the opening of the transfer window, with Arsene Wenger an admirer of the Schalke forward. It was expected that Arsenal would move for Draxler again this summer after failing to land him in the January window, but the club will now have to focus their attention elsewhere.
