Arsene Wenger will be forced into the transfer market now that Theo Walcott has been lost to injury for the remainder of the season.
Even though the Arsenal boss has a clear dislike for the January window, he simply can’t discount the need for moving swiftly and effectively in order to keep Arsenal’s title push on track.
The Arsenal manager is also always keen on a bargain. Last January when injury hit Kieran Gibbs, Wenger moved for Nacho Monreal, a bargain signing from Malaga who has proven to be a very good acquisition.
Despite the wealth the club now have, there are always very good players available for very little at the midway point of the season.
