The dust has just about settled on Arsenal’s Champions League defeat at the hands of defending Champions Bayern Munich. The Gunners went toe to toe with the German giants, and could have led had Mesut Ozil not failed from the spot.
This spell of dominance was brutally reversed when a lapse of concentration from Wojciech Szczęsny sent Robben flying in the box, and forced the referee into giving the Pole his marching orders. From then on in it was an uphill battle for the Premier League side; with very much a case of here we go again in the Champions League knockouts.
Post-match the knives now seem to be out for Ozil, a man that has seen his form dip since the start of the season and has as yet struggled to justify his lofty £42.5m price tag. Given that he is integral to the Arsenal title charge, Wenger must find a way of getting him back on track.
