Arsenal were title favourites during the first half of last season after finishing the year at the top of the table. However, due to some lengthy injuries and tired legs, they began to lose their early momentum, where they finished in fourth at the end of the campaign.

One problem they seemed to have was that Olivier Giroud was their only actual striker, so his place was never under jeopardy leading to some mixed performances. With some players leaving as well, Wenger will surely need to spend in the upcoming transfer window.

So with that in mind, here are SIX World Cup stars Arsenal can sign from Group G.

Matthias Ginter

Estimated Value: £37 million (Release Clause)

His young age gives him the ability to mature if he is given the right guidance and experience. Somebody with Arsene Wenger’s credentials could very well be the perfect fit for such a player. Ginter’s ability to make well time tackles and then keep control of the ball can give the Gunners a huge advantage as he grows more and more into a complete footballer.

The German starlet netted three goals in 42 appearances for his side this past season and has already been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal. Should Wenger decide to make a big money move, he could be a very likely candidate to ensure a great future for the club.

Sami Khedira

Sami Khedira

Name: Sami Khedira

Age: 27 (April 4, 1987)

Club: Real Madrid

Position: Defensive Midfield / Central Midfield

Nationality: Germany

Estimated Value: £19 million

Khedira is seen as a player who never seems to get tired as he tirelessly runs through the midfield, effective on the attacks as well as putting in exceptional defensive duties. In the previous season, Arsenal looked quite dangerous on the break, but was left rather exposed at the back.

The German international scored one and provided one in his 18 matches at Madrid, but his highlight is often seen during his defensive work. However, with very limited playing time, the Gunners may be able to grab him for a greatly reduced value.

Jordan Ayew

Club: Marseille

Position: Striker

Estimated Value: £2.6 million

As shown above, the likes of Ayew can be a menace both inside the penalty box well as a threat on the long shots as he bagged a hat-trick in the World Cup friendly match against South Korea. His arrival could start competition with Olivier Giroud for the lone forward role Arsene Wenger usually deploys.

The rising star netted five times in the French Ligue 1 for loan club FC Sochaux-Montbeliard this past season. Since Arsene Wenger is known for bringing in fresh talent from around Europe, the player fits the bill to becoming the perfect Gunner.

Julian Draxler

Julian Draxler

Name: Julian Draxler

Age: 20 (September 20, 1993)

Club: Schalke 04

Position: Left Winger / Attacking Midfield

Nationality: Germany

Estimated Value: £30 million (Release Clause)

Since Arsene Wenger seems to focus his attacks from the midfield, he should consider some extra talents in this area. Draxler is already being chased by a majority of European clubs and could become a stepping stone for Arsenal in their hopes to build a championship winning team once again.

Already a regular feature, he bagged six goals and provided ten assist in 38 matches for the Bundesliga side this past season. Looking at his skills from the video above, he looks to have what it takes to become an English Premier League great.

Fabio Coentrao

Name: Fabio Coentrao

Age: 26 (March 11, 1988)

Club: Real Madrid

Position: Left Back

Nationality: Portugal

Estimated Value: £12 million

Arsene Wenger has already expressed his desire to bring in a world class left back into his squad and the Portuguese man looks to be an exciting pick. His late season form for Madrid saw him take the place of Marcelo, but with fierce competition for the spot, the Gunners can rescue him by giving him a first time slot in England.

With only eight La Liga starts this past season, mostly coming in the later stages of the campaign, he may not be able to retain his place in the star studded squad. Previous linked with a move to Manchester United, the Portuguese star could now be interested in a switch to the Emirates instead.

Nani

Nani

Name: Luis Nani

Age: 27 (November 17, 1986)

Club: Manchester United

Position: Right Winger / Left Winger

Nationality: Portugal

Estimated Value: £14 million

With composure in front of the net as shown with his goal against the USA or with his ball control and crossing abilities shown above, Arsene Wenger will surely love to add a player like Nani into his squad. With his future at Manchester United still in doubt, a switch isn’t completely out of the question.

The United ace only made 13 appearances this season, scoring one Champions League goal and with so little playing time, a move to join Arsenal could maybe open up more opportunities for the Portuguese international.
