Having been a devoted Arsenal supporter for 47 years, I feel I'm entitled to speak my mind for a change, as opposed to keeping my frustrations regarding my team hidden from the world.

We will soon be entering the last year of Arsene Wenger's current contract... a contract he says he will honour. Now I admire honour, loyalty, and so on, but everything has it's limit.

We've all seen the 'Wenger Out' banners at the matches recently, and it's understandable with yet another season that promised so much finishing with nothing. For years we've heard the same promises that amount to hopes being built, only for them to be dashed in the latter part of the season. The excuses that follow these failures are old and stale, and strangely become more and more bizarre... for example: "There's no evidence that playing on a Thursday affects the performance the following Sunday"... only to be followed by "It's because we had to play on Thursday" after another insipid performance on the Sunday... Duh?

I have no doubt that Wenger loves Arsenal as much as I do, but when it comes to the club, the difference between us is that I want what's best for the club... not what's best for me. One day, despite all the doom and gloom from some pundits with their 'be careful what you wish for' threats, Wenger will no longer be the Arsenal manager, and when that day comes his legacy will be judged .

If he wants to be remembered for his amazing achievements he must start the changes now, otherwise he will face more foul mouthed abuse, and the indignity of being driven from his position.

He must make the sweeping changes that are needed during the summer months... starting with ending the 'friends' atmosphere he has with the players - they are not friends, they are employees who are there to do a job. He is their MANAGER, not their friend or father (as I'm sure he feels he is at times).

As the manager, he has the duty to manage, and that should start with getting rid of under performing players like Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey etc. etc. And with the players who will be out of contract in the summer, we should see the back of nine or even 10. With the money available, added to the money from the sale of said players, he has the chance to buy top quality replacements and additions where needed - centre back, defensive midfield, and up front. A tall dominant centre forward type, and a fox in the box Hernandez type to cater for different needs would address the latter issue. This would be an important message that Arsenal football club are not willing to stand still. They are a club that wants to compete and achieve. A fitting legacy for a man who has done so much in the past.

The alternative will be another season of early promise that will see us here again next year bemoaning the fact we hoped that it would be different while knowing it wouldn't.

So Mr Wenger, what will it be? Will you step up? If the answer is yes, I'll stick with you for one more time.

If the answer is no, then for the sake of my club please step down and make way for someone who wants Arsenal football club to be great again.
