For those with their glass constantly half empty, Arsenal’s collapse this season was to be expected. No amount of time spent at the top of the Premier League table could have convinced some supporters that the club and manager had turned a corner.
Arsenal’s collapse is owed to a number of factors that took effect over the course of the season. Largely, the finger will be pointed at Wenger, not just because of his team selection, but also because he runs the club in such a way that he has to be accountable for what goes wrong.
There won’t be too many surprises, as Arsenal’s season often goes south at one point or another due to recurring problems.
