Arsenal‘s form this season has been inconsistent to say the least, which is in no part due to the London club’s imbalance in midfield. Although Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are all talented midfielders, they’re predominant focus is to attack, which has left the Gunners exposed in defence on a number of occasions in the Premier League this year.

The Gunners need a new recruit in the summer, a defensive enforcer to help out and plug up the gaps left behind by Arsenal’s swift attacks. There’s an Alex Song sized hole in the midfield which needs to be filled, and Arsene Wenger’s men could really do with some added height when defending set pieces.
