Arsene Wenger has denied any talk that he is hoping to sign AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, according to ESPN.
The Arsenal boss has been heavily linked with the Italian forward all summer and some reports have recently suggested that Arsenal were hoping to have a deal completed within the next week or two.
But Wenger has denied such reports, explaining that people should’t believe everything they read.
When asked about the rumour, Wenger relied: “No, no, that’s pure invention.
“We cannot believe absolutely everything that is on the internet or is in the newspapers. It’s not true.”
It remains to be seen whether Wenger was saying that to create a smokescreen while a deal is ironed out between the Gunners and the Italian giants.
But if the Emirates boss is telling the truth, it could further frustrate the Gunners faithful are waiting on a marquee signing this summer, particularly following the news that Liverpool may have beaten them to Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.
