Italian club AS Roma are targeting Tottenham midfielder Paulinho in this summer’s transfer window, according to TalkSport.
Roma are in a battle to hold on to star midfielder Miralem Pjanic – who is being courted by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United – and are looking to Paulinho as his replacement in case he does depart.
Italian paper Il Tempo has claimed that the Giallorossi have inquired Spurs if they’re willing to loan out the 25-year-old next season, with the possibility of a permanent move later.
Many of the Lilywhite’s signings from last summer have had a difficult season settling in at White Hart Lane, and Paulinho has voiced his concerns about Tim Sherwood’s rotation policy which has seen the Brazilian left out of the starting lineup while fit on four consecutive Premier League fixtures.
But the £17m signing from Corinthians has started his last three league games –scoring in their 3-1 home win over Fulham, so it is still uncertain whether he is wanted by the club or will be sold after this summer’s World Cup.
The midfielder has scored five goals and also provided three assists in the league this season.
