Aston Villa are leading the race for Columbia international Carlos Sanchez, according to West London Sport.
The Elche defensive midfielder has also been linked with moves to QPR and Everton this summer, but reportedly flew in to England to secure a £4.7m switch to Villa Park.
The 28-year-old, nicknamed ‘The Rock’ in Spain is expected to put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal by the end of this week.
Sanchez only joined Elche last year after spending most of his career in France, but now he looks set for a new start in the Premier League.
Villa should also have no worries about obtaining a work permit for the midfielder, with him having won 48 caps for Columbia, including all four games at the World Cup this summer.
He is set to have a medical on Wednesday with a deal expected to be officially announced soon after.
Swansea’s Jose Canas is being lined up by Elche as Sanchez’s replacement.
