Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is fit for his side’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Manchester United at the weekend.

The £24 million signing missed out on Villa’s 1-0 victory over his former employers Sunderland last time out, but is now fit and raring to go.

Bent’s future has been subject of fierce speculation, as he has failed to force his way into manager Paul Lambert’s plans following the £7 million arrival of Christian Benteke.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has also emerged into form in the last few outings and Bent may have to settle for a place on the bench yet again.

The 28-year-old England international will be hoping that he will be able to make his mark against the current Premier League leaders.

The Villans haven’t managed to beat Manchester United at Villa Park since 1995 when Old Trafford legend Dwight Yorke was playing in Claret and Blue, managing to get on the scoresheet in a 3-1 victory that day.

Now that Bent has returned to training, the fans will be hoping that Lambert will be able to accommodate the ace so that the club can consistently ensure a goalscoring threat.

Regardless of who starts the match, the players are aware that when Manchester United visit it is always a sell out and a huge occasion.

“I still think Manchester United is the big game in the calendar at Villa Park. There’s always a special atmosphere when that match is on. All the players are right up for it,” Marc Albrighton told the Express and Star.

Villa take on Manchester United on 10th November in a 17.30 kick off.
