Aston Villa Manager Paul Lambert is believed to be targetting a move for St. Etienne striker Pierre Aubameyang, according to The Sunday People.

Villa boss Lambert, is thought to be in the market for striking reinforcements having frozen out £24million signing Darren Bent in recent games.

Despite the player not being available for selection last weekend due to injury, it is reckoned that the manager will pursue targets to replace Bent.

Aubameyang is highly sought after due to a number of impressive performances for his club in Ligue1 following a move from AC Milan last year.

The French born forward has a formidable record of 22 goals in 56 league games for St. Etienne and could provide Villa with a further cutting edge up front.

Darren Bent will expect to also have a number of suitors, with Fulham the latest team believed to have expressed an interest, so Lambert will have funds to spend.

This means that they can plot a raid for the Gabon International, who is expected to available for a figure of £7million. The club’s owner Randy Lerner is believed to have already sanctioned a move for the player.

Villa scouts have pinpointed Aubameyang style of play as being perfect for the Premier League, and they are confident he would hit the ground running if he moved to Villa Park.

In the summer the 23 year old also represented Gabon at the Olympic Games in London scoring 1 goal in 3 appearances, and has previously admitted his love for the English game.
