Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has lauded the effect his manager Paul Lambert has had on the side, insisting Premier League form is just around the corner, according to Sky Sports

The keeper also believes Villa’s performance in the 3-2 loss to Manchester United is a real sign of progress for the West Midlands outfit.

Guzan was quick to praise the efforts of his team during the fixture at Villa Park and reiterated that the squad has really bought into the vision that Lambert is trying to create.

He felt that their latest result is an indicator that the club will push on away from relegation should they keep producing similar displays.

"We want to create something special and the manager wants to do that too," said the USA international.

"I feel the pieces of his jigsaw are starting to be put in place. It will take time but we're on the right road definitely.

"That's starting to show. Everyone watching could see what we're all about - desire, determination and a real attacking philosophy.

"We will continue to grow and build under the gaffer. We're improving all the time. We're starting to create an identity for ourselves as a team under the manager. It's exciting times ahead."

Guzan was released by Aston Villa before Paul Lambert arrived as manager and has really grasped his opportunity to shine when thrown into the Premier League environment.

However, he was keen to emphasise the importance of the fans when talking to Sky Sports rather than his individual performance.

"The fans were absolutely tremendous too," he added.

"The noise and excitement levels were up there with the best I have experienced at Villa. It was unbelievable.”
