Barcelona could target Premier League stars after the club’s vice-president Javier Faus promised “big investments” during this summer’s transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

And that could lead to the club swooping for the likes of Tottenham‘s Jan Vertonghen, Chelsea’s David Luiz and Sergio Aguero of Manchester City.

Barcelona are set to lose long-serving stars Carlos Puyol and Victor Valdes at the end of the season, with both players confirming they will depart at the end of their contract.

The Catalan giants are expected to add to their midfield and attack as well, and Faus says the club’s priority remains “sporting excellence.”

“We will be making some big investments in the transfer market this summer,” Faus told El Mundo Deportivo.

“We are ready just like we will be ready in the future. The club’s main priority will always be to maintain sporting excellence. Our financial situation will not be an obstacle.”

Barcelona currently sit third in La Liga, and are likely to progress to the Champions League quarter finals, having beaten Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad during the first leg of their last 16 tie.
