Barcelona playmaker Xavi has left the door ajar for a possible Premier League move by suggesting that he may not end his playing days at the Nou Camp.
The 33-year-old midfielder is widely thought of as one of the greatest players of his generation, and has had a glittering career in which he has won just about every possible prize at both club and international level.
However, with his years advancing the Spaniard may be forced to take a back seat at Barca, who will continue to compete at the very highest level.
When asked if he could eventually leave the Catalan giants, Xavi said:
“It’s difficult to finish your career at Barcelona,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“I don’t know if I’ll end up finishing my career here.”
Manchester United have been linked with Xavi on a number of occasions over the past few years, with members of the club’s hierarchy believed to be massive fans of the silky passer.
Having spent his entire career with Barca, the veteran ace could be tempted by a move in the not too distant future, with his contract due to expire in 2016.
