Bayern Munich have joined Barcelona in the race to sign David Luiz from Chelsea this summer, Daily Mail reports.
The German champions look set to launch a £25million bid for the Blues defender, but may have to wait until the World Cup concludes before negotiations begin.
The 27-year-old is ready to leave this summer after falling down the Chelsea pecking order, with Barcelona also interested in his services.
But it seems Bayern manager Pep Guardiola is keen to sign the Brazilian.
Brazil are the hosts as well as the favourites to win the World Cup this year, and Seleção coach Luiz Felipe Scolari does not want his players distracted by transfer discussions.
Luiz was a fan favourite during under the management of Rafa Benitez, when the centre-back was deployed as a dynamic defensive midfielder due to his composure on the ball.
However Jose Mourinho preferred a more solid midfield anchor, opting for Ramires and January purchase Nemanja Matic instead.
Gary Cahill also cemented his position as John Terry’s centre-back partner, making Luiz surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
