Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed he wants a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United and Arsenal both keen on his signature, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Dutchman has also been linked with the likes of Sunderland and Newcastle in recent months, with his impressive performances in the Scottish Premier League attracting increased interest from England.

And he admits it's time for him to move on to the next challenge, but acknowledges his time in Scotland as a valuable learning curve.

He told the Daily Star: "I'm learning in Scotland every day, but I also know there is more.

"I want more. It's time for the next challenge. I am 24 this year, I'm ready for something new – more pressure, better opponents."

And despite enjoying his time with Celtic, the 23-year-old has admitted his frustration at not being able to secure a move to the Premier League sooner.

"Since then [when I joined Celtic] there has been interest every summer and winter, especially from the Premier League, " he admitted.

"I stood there open to it. But Celtic decided not to sell me at that time.

"Yes, I was disappointed. They must understand that as a footballer, sometimes it's time to make a move.

"If the correct amount is placed on the table, then they will really think about it, yes. If Celtic want to earn money from me, the club must act now."

It is believed Arsenal and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on van Dijk, with Wenger looking to strengthen his defensive options ahead of a title challenge next season.

Man United boss Louis Van Gaal is also hoping to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer and is believed to be a long term admirer of Van Dijk.
