Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has signalled his intentions of bringing back on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Stamford Bridge, Mirror reports.
The Belgian shot-stopper has had an amazing season at Atletico Madrid, with the Spanish side leading La-Liga and facing Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.
But with Petr Cech set for a long stint on the sidelines with injury, Mourinho wants Courtois to man the Blues’ posts during the start of the new campaign.
The Czech international will be out for at least three months with a shoulder problem, which would allow Courtois to cement himself as the Blues’ first choice keeper.
The 22-year-old has also been linked with Spanish giants Barcelona, but Mourinho is unwilling to sell him to the Catalan club.
Although Cech has been the undisputed number one at Stamford Bridge, the fight for the number one spot with Courtois was bound to happen after two very impressive years at the Spanish capital.
Chelsea again came short in their challenge for the Premier League title this season, and Mourinho wants to equip his team with who many consider currently the best goalkeeper in the world.
