Liverpool look set to be left frustrated by their attempts to sign out of favour full back Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea this month, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Blues are understood to be less than impressed at the Reds’ handling of Victor Moses this season, who they signed on a year long loan from Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The winger has managed only six Premier League starts, and was substituted at half time against League One Oldham during the Reds’ FA Cup 3rd round tie on Sunday.
Chelsea are concerned Moses has failed to progress in the way they would have wanted under Rodgers, a coach who is notorious for developing young talent.
That has lead to reservations about where Bertrand ends up, despite concrete interest from the Reds.
Bertrand is set to be allowed to leave the club in January, but relations between the two clubs over transfers may mean he will be denied a move to the Merseyside giants, who have so far shown the strongest interest.
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is set for showdown talks over his Chelsea future this week, with Atletico Madrid poised to sign the midfielder on loan until the end of the season.
