Chelsea could be welcoming a new Brazilian to their ranks after being impressed with the performances of Pedrinho, Jorge Nicola from Brazil's Yahoo reports.

What's the word?

Corinthians youngster Pedro Victor, better known as Pedrinho, has impressed Chelsea scouts when playing in Brazil's largest U20 tournament and the Blues are said to have made initial contact with the 18-year-old regarding a switch to West London.

The youngster has valiantly led his club's youth outfit to the final of the tournament, which takes place today, and is highly-rated by the Brazilian giants who have boasted the talents of Brazilian legends Garrincha and Socrates, as well as the likes of Deco, Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez.

Now, it seems Pedrinho could become the latest Brazilian export to move to Europe, following Gabriel Jesus' move from Palmeiras to Manchester City. However, Corinthians do not want to sell.

What was said?

Speaking to journalist Jorge Nicola, Corinthians' Youth Levels Director Fausto Bittar reiterated the club's desire to keep hold of their star-players as he said:

“What I can guarantee is that we will not talk to anyone about selling before the cup final. And Corinthian’s idea is to keep all the boys, so they can be used in the first team.”

What do we know?

Well, Chelsea have strong links in Brazilian football as they boast the likes of Willian and David Luiz in their side, whilst Ramires and Oscar recently plied their trade in West London, so connections to some of the countries youngest stars are unsurprising.

With the Copa São Paulo de Juniores, the competition where Pedrinho is said to have impressed, being ranked as Brazil's biggest U20 tournament, the alleged presence of Chelsea scouts is hardly surprising- but securing a deal is complicated.

Due to work-permit laws, Chelsea may struggle to get approval to sign Pedrinho because of his lack of international experience and special dispensation is unlikely in this case, as the 19-year-old does not match any obvious alternative criteria.
