Porto centre-back Nicolas Otamendi has urged Chelsea and Manchester City to make January moves for his signature, by claiming that a mid-season move would not be detrimental to his World Cup ambitions.
The Argentine ace is one of a number of talented players at the Estadio do Dragao attracting attention from across Europe after a number of impressive displays.
City and Chelsea are just two of a host of clubs believed to be watching the 25-year-old, with some rumours suggesting that both sides are ready to launch winter moves for his services.
Otamendi has ambitions of representing his nation at the World Cup next summer, and knows that he must be playing regularly at the highest level to achieve his aims.
Although he is aware that Porto is a good club at which to do this, he believes that a big transfer would not be a problem:
“I want to do my job to the best of my ability. Porto draws attention around the world and these rumours still exist.” He is quoted by talkSPORT.
“But I’m glad they speak well of me, that means I do things well. If an opportunity presents itself, I’ll think. I will continue to help Porto.
“I do not think changing clubs in January would harm me in the context of the World Cup. I always want to do my best, wherever I play.”
