Southampton left back Luke Shaw is ready to snub Manchester United’s advances in the closing days of the transfer window, in the hope of completing a dream move to Chelsea in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
United boss David Moyes is understood to have tabled a £22million bid for the 18-year-old full back, who has also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho is thought to be desperate to land the young defender, who he sees as the ideal long term successor to Ashley Cole.
However, Manchester United have been pushing to get the deal done before Friday’s transfer deadline, and there is a small chance the Saints may be willing to do business should either club match their valuation.
Shaw remains in no rush however, and is happy to stay on the south coast, safe in the knowledge that Jose Mourinho will try and land him again in the summer.
Shaw – a boyhood Chelsea fan – has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge, and is ready to snub Manchester United, even if it means waiting until the summer.
Southampton recognise they will be forced to sell at some point, but will be far more willing to do so in the summer, while Chelsea are prepared to wait to get their man.
