The Daily Star reported this morning that Chelsea have turned to Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi as an alternative signing to Everton's Romelu Lukaku.

The Blues have been strongly linked with their former front-man, but have already seen a £65million transfer bid turned down by the Toffees - who are now looking to trash out a new contract with the Belgium international's agent Mino Raiola.

That has reportedly turned the west London club towards the Argentina international, who scored 16 goals in Serie A last season, despite recent reports claiming his agent and wife - the notorious Wanda Nara - has flown to England to hold talks with Chelsea's rivals Arsenal.

Now here's where things get interesting. Doing their daily rumour round-up from the English media in association with TeamTalk, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato published the below tweet his afternoon, which translates as "Lukaku becomes complicated and Chelsea think Icardi. Pogba open balances at the United."

And curiously enough, the tweet was liked by none other than the aforementioned Wanda Nara.

The Argentine TV personality has always been somewhat of a social media darling, famed for recently posting the rather cryptic tweet 'Calcio Mercato' (transfer market) as doubts emerged over her husband's future at the San Siro.

But it's certainly intriguing that this is the first football-related post she's liked since the end of July, linking Icardi with a move to the Premier League just a day after Roberto Mancini was sacked as Inter Milan boss. We'll leave you to read between the lines.
