AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli has moved to quash rumours that he could make a stunning move to Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
The controversial Italian is believed to on the verge of being forced to leave the San Siro giants just a year after joining them thanks to a series of off-field mishaps and some poor performances in a disappointing few months for the Rossoneri.
The Blues have been mooted as a potential suitor for the fiery striker, with Jose Mourinho keen to secure a new goalscorer to boost his side’s title charge.
However, Balotelli has rubbished claims that he is ready to leave Milan, claiming that he wants to stay settled ahead of the 2014 World Cup:
“I am staying at Milan,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“I have to get ready for the World Cup and stay calm.”
Balotelli endured a turbulent time at City prior to returning to Italy last January, with Premier League success and a number of well-noted incident away from the field of play.
The 23-year-old has previously worked with Mourinho at Inter Milan, but the pair had a number of notable clashes.
