Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rubbished rumours that the Bundesliga champions are planning a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz.
The German giants have been heavily linked with the unorthodox centre-back of late, with recent reports suggesting that a serious move for his signature could be put into action in the coming weeks.
Bayern coach Pep Guardiola is thought to be a fan of the Brazilian international, and was linked with a swoop for his signature while at Barcelona.
Luiz was the subject of much interest over the summer, but Jose Mourinho held firm to keep his man.
However, ‘The Special One’ has not been impressed by his displays, and has since altered his opinion on defender.
This has let to rumours that Bayern may move, but Rummenigge says that such speculation is nonsense:
“There’s always lots of speculation and it’s extreme in England, but I can say for certain that he is not an issue for us,” he is quoted by The Metro.
“I personally hope that Holger Badstuber comes back (from injury). That would be a new arrival who would do Bayern a lot of good.
“He’s a great lad and an important player for us.”
