The big football news this week has been the sacking of Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo and his replacement, for the short-term at least, being former Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez.

The sacking of Roberto Di Matteo came just 262 days into his reign as Chelsea manager, putting him in a similar position to the likes of Luiz Felipe Scolari, Avram Grant and Andre Villas-Boas who have all perished before him.

Like AVB, Di Matteo’s demise came off the back of a defeat to West Brom in the Premier League and a loss in the Champions League in Italy.

Di Matteo’s unsuccessful trip to Italy came against Juventus, which, controversially in Roman Abramovich’s eyes, saw Fernando Torres dropped to the bench.

Here is Torres alongside Ryan Bertrand on the Chelsea bench, giving Di Matteo the stare.
