The Blues are one of four teams locked in a battle for English football’s top prize and currently top the table – although if Manchester City win their game in hand they will move to the summit thanks to their goal difference.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been unspectacular for most of the season and lack a ‘world class’ striker – something that ‘The Special One’ has confessed – leading some to question their ability to keep their foes at bay.
However Eto’o – a summer arrival from Anzhi Makhachkala – says that belief in the dressing room that they can go the distance is high:
“We have never thought that we can’t win the title – but Jose Mourinho came to Chelsea to do big things for the long run which he is trying to do,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“We players believe that it is possible but at the same time it is not our mission.
“Right now we are not thinking about other teams or the end of the season, we are just focused on our next game and that is Galatasaray.”
Chelsea face Galatasaray in Champions League action this week, where they will be reunited with former idol Didier Drogba.
