Chelsea may allow Thibaut Courtois to spend a fourth successive season on loan with Atletico Madrid, according to reports from AS.

The highly-rated Belgian stopper has developed a reputation as one of Europe’s finest young stoppers in the Spanish capital, but is yet to play a single game for the Blues.

Upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the 21-year-old was immediately sent to Atletico to gain experience, with playing time in West London likely to have been limited by the presence of Petr Cech.

There have been rumours circulating that Chelsea are keen to recall their man heading into the 2014/15 campaign, but now it is understood that he may spend another season at the Vicente Calderon.

The Premier League leaders are set to offer Courtois a new contract to convince him that he has a big future at the club, before shipping him out once more to maintain his development.

The glovesman himself is desperate to play regularly, and may be tempted by further extending his spell with Atletico.

The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with bids for his services, but speculation has been played down by the ‘keeper himself.
